The Women in Neurorehabilitation Special Interest Group (SIG) of the World Federation for Neurorehabilitation (WFNR) is pleased to present an insightful webinar exploring gender perspectives in neurorehabilitation. This session will highlight critical aspects of gender differences in patient care and the often-overlooked role of caregivers.
Dr Madhavan will open the session by introducing the speakers and providing an overview of the current landscape for women in neurorehabilitation, emphasising their contributions, challenges, and future opportunities within the clinical and research fields. Following this, Dr Pistarini will delve into the nuances of gender differences in neurorehabilitation, discussing how biological, social, and psychological factors shape patient outcomes and care approaches.
In addition, Dr Leonardi will present on the gendered dimensions of caregiving for individuals with neurological disorders, with a particular focus on disorders of consciousness. This presentation will explore how caregiving responsibilities often fall along gender lines and the unique challenges faced by caregivers in this context.
This webinar will promote discussion, and provide knowledge and tips on constructing gender sensitive approaches to neurorehabilitation.
