Australian/New Zealand Bone Health TeleECHO

Monday 2 August, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The first Australian/New Zealand Bone Health TeleECHO launched in July 2021, and is now running on a monthly basis. The program aims to break down traditional barriers between specialities, practice location (public/private) and geographic location (rural/urban). This program is based on Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) which is a virtual model of telementoring that uses a hub-and-spoke knowledge-sharing approach where expert teams lead virtual clinics, amplifying the capacity for providers to deliver best practice care.

Who is the meeting for?

Bone Health TeleECHOTM will bring together basic and advanced trainees, fellows and specialists from Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Aged Care, General Medicine, Rehabilitation and Rural/Remote Medicine for collaborative, expert led, case based discussions. We plan to extend the program to Primary Care in 2022.

Why participate in Bone Health TeleECHO ?

  • TeleECHO TM is a platform to discuss complex osteoporosis and bone health cases, which may fall outside the scope of current guidelines. This provides the opportunity for case based discussion with a multidisciplinary panel of clinicians with experience in bone health.
  • Provide a platform for health practitioners to participate in interactive case-based discussions and develop a community of practice for clinicians interested in osteoporosis, especially those from rural and regional centres
  • Build on self-efficacy and expertise in osteoporosis and other bone diseases
  • Meet continuing professional development (CPD) requirements
  • Network with colleagues with an interest in Bone disease across different specialties

Bone Health TeleECHO Curriculum

In addition to case-based discussions, we will start the sessions with a presentation that summarises the key findings of a recent publication in the osteoporosis literature followed by comments by a multidisciplinary panel regarding how this study will impact their clinical practice.
