We are seeking a Senior Medical Officer to join us in a 0.8FTE position on a permanent basis.
The role comprises inpatient ward cover, in-reach to Christchurch Hospital, supporting early rehabilitation and early community discharge for stroke, and supporting the Adult Community Therapy Service (ACTS). The role also requires providing medical support to traumatic brain injury patients in collaboration with the community facility that provides this service in Christchurch.
The procedural skills required for the job include, but not limited to, spasticity management for Stroke and other neurodegenerative conditions. Although experience with Botulinum Toxin injection is desirable, there are opportunities to develop these skills within the role.
It is desirable to have adequate Spinal injuries experience as part of Rehabilitation Medicine training.
There is a good teaching program for trainees within the service and the successful candidate will be involved in teaching and training of the rehabilitation medicine trainees.
