Alice Springs Hospital

Looking for somewhere challenging, confronting, rewarding… somewhere fundamentally different? Alice Springs Hospital is seeking a Rehabilitation Physician to join the Department of Medicine.

This role will involve establishing a specialist Rehabilitation service at Alice Springs Hospital, involving a combination of inpatient and ambulatory patient care, supervision and training of advanced rehabilitation trainees; and a senior management role in the Central Australian Rehabilitation Service. This position is suitable for new graduates as well as more experienced clinicians.

Alice Springs Hospital is a 183-bed Level 2 teaching hospital affiliated with Flinders University and Charles Darwin University. We work closely with Tennant Creek Hospital and Royal Darwin Hospital, and have strong links to Royal Adelaide Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre as tertiary referral centres and visiting specialists from these hospitals.

The medicine here is entirely unique. More than 80% of patients are Indigenous – many from remote communities. Co-morbidities and social conditions can be complex and effective communication is essential.

Alice is bicycle-friendly – rarely taking more than 10 minutes to get anywhere. Out of town are places to camp under the stars, swim through gorges, explore rocky mountain ranges and hit world-class mountain bike trails.
