About the speakers:

Dr Mary Wyatt
In the area of return to work Dr Wyatt has worn many hats:  treater physician, assessing physician, reviewing workplaces for return to work, conciliator in dispute resolution, and as a manager involved with the development of effective return to work systems.

She teaches at Monash and was a member of the Victorian WorkCover Advisory Committee from 1993 to 1998, serving on a number of sub committees primarily concerned with the development of back pain guidelines for Victoria and the world leading public back campaign.

Returning to private practice in 2005 Mary founded and remains Chair of The Foundation for Research into Injury and Illness in the Workplace (ResWorks) a non profit organisation, which developed the Return To Work Knowledge Base,  and led to the development of Return To Work Matters as an online network and resource for Return To Work Professionals which she edits.

Prof Steven Faux
Topic: Case studies of Return to Work of medical practitioners following inpatient rehabilitation
Professor Steven Faux was the establishing Director of the St Vincent’s Hospital’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2000 and is the current director of Pain Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney.
He is a Conjoint Professor of Medicine at the University of NSW and the University of Notre Dame. Professor Faux has led NSW Health’s rehabilitation Community of Practice in COVID19.
He is on the management committee of the Australian Stroke Registry, the Clinical Council of the National Stroke Foundation and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has served on the board of the RMSANZ for over 4 years, and is the scientific lead of the ISPRM Congress in Sydney 2024.

Spasticity Management Journal Club

November 28th - 5.30 - 6.30pm (AEDT)

Suggested format:

  • 2 articles to be presented - 5-10 mins for presentation (PowerPoint or other visual aid) then 15-20 minutes for discussion
  • It would be good to have a theme for the papers
  • The presenters will send the proposed articles to us at least 3 weeks before the meeting for distribution and review (ideally first week of the month)
  • A Microsoft Teams invite will then be sent with the articles
  • If no papers are proposed the co-chairs will choose articles and distribute
  • The presentation should have limited slides with basic information and main points
